Guide - Ski Touring intermediate - Overnight

An outdoor activity, consisting of skiing in areas which are outside the areas covered by rescue "ski-patrols" and may include an overnight stop. The activity includes the requirement to have a number of standard skiing skills, including: diagonal stride, snow plough, glide, break and turn, side step, step turns, double pole herringbone, downhill run, kick turn, traverse, basic skate, side-slip, stopping, stem-turns, kick and tack turns, open stance telemark turns, telemark run and self arrest. The activity requires the ability to plan the event and follow a correct or satisfactory course along a route and to be able to set up and maintain an overnight camp site.
Career Pathway:
Units provide credit towards Cert IV in Outdoor Recreation (SIS40310)
Course Duration:
Maximum of 6 months from commencement
Entry Requirment:
HSC (year 12) or a mature background
Note:
HLTFA301B Apply First Aid is a pre-requisite for all courses

SISOOPS305A Provide First Aid in a remote location (remote/wilderness first aid)
